City Garden: A Natural Living Oasis

Bringing Nature Inside with Shu-Ching Yu

With natural living as the main concept, designer Shu-Ching Yu seamlessly blends the elements of garden, paradise, and green into interior environments. By embracing the essence and coexistence of beings and the Mother Earth, City Garden creates a harmonious connection with nature.

City Garden is a residential project that breaks the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, architecture and landscape. Through innovative techniques and ideas, Shu-Ching Yu has crafted a space that not only echoes nature but also brings it into daily life.

The design of City Garden prioritizes the use of natural light and greenery. The view borrowing technique is employed in the majority of the public facilities, allowing sunshine and greenery to permeate the interiors through expansive windows. This creates a seamless transition between the indoor and outdoor spaces, blurring the lines between them.

The reception hall showcases a variety of black and white stone materials and ceramic tiles, embodying the concept of "less is more." Dark wood and organic chandeliers on the ceiling add an elegant touch to the space, creating a visually stunning environment.

City Garden is not just aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional. The design includes a gym, inclusive playground, children's playroom, multi-functional activity center, chess room, and home classroom. The space is carefully planned to ensure functionality and visibility, allowing parents to keep an eye on their children from the reception hall.

One of the unique features of City Garden is the hot air balloon-style slide and the blue sky painting ceiling with cloud decorations in the playroom. This playful and interactive design element provides a joyful experience for everyone, while also ensuring safety and reassurance for parents.

City Garden is a testament to the designer's commitment to sustainability and the integration of nature into interior spaces. By incorporating large windows and embracing natural light, the reliance on artificial lighting is significantly reduced. The minimalist approach allows the space to speak for itself, showcasing the beauty of nature.

This remarkable project is set to be completed in August 2024 in Taiwan, and it has already garnered recognition. City Garden was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This prestigious accolade is a testament to the project's well-designed, practical, and innovative nature.

City Garden is not just a residence; it is a living testament to the harmonious relationship between humans and nature. Through thoughtful design and a commitment to sustainability, Shu-Ching Yu has created an oasis where residents can reconnect with the environment and experience the tranquility of natural living.
